The Strands hotel was built around 1800 by the Tyson brother, James Tyson. It was recently taken over Mark & Lesley Corr.

There is a main bar with a log fire, a snug bar with log fire, a dining room , a small residents lounge and 11 letting bedrooms ( all of which are different ), ample parking spaces and a great beer garden

The Gosforth Hall Inn, Gosforth

Gosforth Hall hotel

Located on the quiet Western edge of the Lake District National Park, Gosforth Hall Hotel & Restaurant is only a few minutes drive from England's deepest lake, highest mountain and smallest church! Building of the Hall commenced in 1658, the year of Oliver Cromwell's death. The date of completion is not clear, although the date on the Coat of Arms situated in the bar is 1673. The hotel stands next to St Mary's Church with the famous 15ft-high Viking Cross. Many of the building's original features have been retained, in keeping with its Grade 2* listing.

The Wasdale Head Inn is famed for being the birthplace of British rock climbing and has a tradition of providing food and rooms for the walker and climber who visits the valley. The Lutwidge Arms is a Victorian roadside inn with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Dating back to around 1850, and taking the family name of the Lutwidges of Holmrook Hall (who included Lewis Carroll of Alice in Wonderland fame) it combined the roles of working farm and inn for many years. The hotel looks out over the River Irt, containing Salmon and Sea Trout, to the high Lakeland Fells.
